London :: 5 Month Update

Dear London,

Today you are five months old! Another month has flown by, and you continue to grow up so much as each month passes. We had quite a busy month with Grandma Schmitt's visit, and have been spending lots of time with our wonderful new friends and neighbors.

Despite our busy month, that certainly didn't stop you from hitting several big milestones in between our busy days. You can now roll from your back onto your tummy, and actually prefer to be on your tummy the majority of the time now. You especially love to roll over and play with your toys. You've come quite a long way from those early tummy time days ;) In addition to rolling over, you also learned how to sit up on your own this month! While you're still perfecting your balance, you are now able to sit up without support for a few minutes at a time.

You've also been enjoying playing in your exersaucer lately. Noah loves to join in on the fun, and almost always plays right along with you while you're in the exersaucer. Speaking of Noah, your love for your big brother continues to grow each day. You are constantly looking around the room for him, and will almost always stop crying/fussing when he comes into view. I love that you look up to him already. Noah is slowly but surely learning to share with you, and I can see the bond starting to form between the two of you. One of my favorite things about being a Mommy is seeing you two interact. I know with time, your bond will only continue to grow. My biggest prayer is that you two grow up to be best friends for life.

For being such a sleepy little newborn, you have certainly woken up these past few months and have changed your tune on sleeping ;) Oh, sweet girl, you do not care for sleeping very much. We have spent this last month working on improving your nighttime sleep, as well as nap time. A few weeks ago, you started napping in your crib. The first few days were a rough transition, but within a week or so, you started to get more comfortable in your crib, and are actually doing quite well with naps right now. We are still working on nighttime sleep, but the good news is that you have dropped back down to just one nightly feeding, usually between 2-3am. I think it's safe to say that we have overcome the "4 month sleep regression" of last month, and are hopefully on our way to better sleep in the near future.

On a fun and silly note, Daddy and I have nicknamed you "Cheekers" for your adorable, pinch-able baby cheeks ;) We just can't get enough of that sweet face of yours. We love you to the moon and back, baby girl.

Until next time, here are some of my favorite photos from your 5th month.

 Getting stronger!

London :: 4 Month Update

Dear London,

Today you are four months old! I know I say this every month, but this month really felt like it went by faster than ever. Perhaps it's because you are getting older and I kind of want time to slow down just a little bit?! I still think of you as my tiny little newborn, but you have turned into such a bubbly and curious-about-everything-around-you baby girl almost overnight it seems.

This past month we have continued to see your happy little personality shine. You have been laughing up a storm and love to sit up (and more recently, stand up) and look at everything the world has to offer. One of your favorite things right now is sitting in your Bumbo while you watch your big brother play. It doesn't matter what Noah is doing, you just love to watch him. You continue to enjoy tummy time, and have been getting more and more interested in toys. Mommy is looking forward to the day that you and Noah can actually play with each other, as well as the day that your big brother learns to share toys ;)

These past few weeks have become a bit more predictable in terms of your daytime schedule. You currently take 3 naps/day, including a long afternoon nap (2-2.5 hrs). I wish I could say you are sleeping through the night on a consistent basis, but unfortunately, we've hit somewhat of a rough patch with your nighttime sleep. Most nights, you are still waking up once (sometimes twice) a night. Perhaps the "4 month sleep regression" has decided to pay our house a visit? Regardless, you still remain a very happy baby, so we can't complain about the lack of sleep too much ;)

This weekend we celebrated your first 4th of July, as well as Mommy and Daddy's 7 year wedding anniversary! And last night, Grandma Schmitt, along with your Great Uncle Tony and Aunt Lorraine came into town from NY to visit us this upcoming week. They have been spoiling you and your brother so much already, including a trip to the toy store, and of course, lots of cuddles for you ;)

Summer is in full swing now, and even though most days it is 95+ degrees outside, we are loving this hot & sunny summer weather! We've been spending our days at the zoo and enjoying time with our new friends here in SC.

Until next time, here are some of my favorite photos from your 4th month.

Loving tummy time this month!

All smiles :)

London :: 3 Month Update

 Dear London,

Today you are three months old, which means you have officially graduated from newborn status! This month was filled with many fun moments with you, including several big milestones.

You started off this past month showing more interest in batting at toys on your activity mat. Last month you really started to enjoy your mat, but mostly just looked at the hanging toys and watched the flashing lights. It is pretty clear that one of your favorite activities is playing on your mat. This past month also brought TONS of happy, gummy baby smiles and lots and lots of cooing and "talking". You have even given us a few baby laughs! You have become so incredibly vocal these past few weeks and really enjoy "talking" back and forth with us. I just love listening to you :)

Earlier this week, you surprised Mommy by rolling over for the very first time during our afternoon playtime! You rolled from your tummy to back four times in a row!  You have also been tolerating tummy time much more these past few weeks! Ironically enough, you also seem to enjoy your swing more this month as well (tummy time and the swing were two of your least favorite things last month). Another big milestone that you achieved this month (at 10.5 weeks old) was sleeping through the night for the first time. You slept from 9 pm to 6 am, which was fantastic! You've since slept through the night on a few more occasions; however, most nights you still wake up between 4-5 am for a bottle, but will then go back to sleep till 7 or 8 am.

This month we celebrated Memorial Day here in SC with Mommy's side of the family. You got to meet Grandpa, your aunties, and your cousin, Emma, for the first time, which was very exciting! Emma, who just started walking, had so much fun playing with Noah. It was so fun getting to see them interact and form a bond at such a young age. Emma is just 11 months older than you, so it won't be very long until you're running around with them next spring/summer ;)

Well, I think that's about all for this month. But, what a great month it was! We have so enjoyed watching you grow this past month, and can't wait to see what you will achieve next month. We love you, baby girl!

Until next time, here are some of my favorite photos from your 3rd month.

London :: 2 Month Update

Dear London,

Today you are two months old! I'm pretty sure I blinked, and April was over like that! You have changed so much in just one short month. We are starting to see your little personality emerge with smiles and baby coos. Seeing you smile and hearing your little baby "oohs" and "aahs" is so much fun! You are tracking objects and making more eye contact with us now. You even like to catch glimpses of your big brother's tv shows ;)

This past month we have really gotten into more of a schedule/feeding pattern. During the day you are eating every 3 hours or so, followed by play time then a nap. Lately, you have been getting more consistent with your night time sleep as well. Most nights, you are only waking up once a night to eat, which usually falls around 3 am. Hooray for extra sleep for the whole family! ;) Your favorite time of day seems to be first thing in the morning when you wake up for the day (usually between 6-6:30 am). You are always so smiley and content after waking up.

Even though you are only two months, your likes/dislikes are pretty obvious to Mommy & Daddy. You have no problem being vocal when you are hungry or dislike something, so I thought I'd share some of your current likes/dislikes:

Likes: being sung to, bath time, hanging out in your Rock n Play, afternoon naps in Mommy or Daddy's arms, playing on your activity mat, girl time w/ Mommy while Noah is at school (we love our Target shopping trips!), and walks in the stroller.

Dislikes: tummy time, diaper changes, your swing, and while you do love bath time itself, you don't enjoy getting out of the bath to dry off ;)

Daddy and I are looking forward to watching you grow even more over the coming summer months. It has already been pretty hot here in South Carolina, and even warmer weather is on the way. Warm weather = dressing up in pretty summer dresses ;)

We love you, sweet girl!

Until next time, here are some of my favorite photos from your 2nd month.

Yay for tank top weather! ;)
